About Datahyena

Why we built a focused growth-signals API instead of another bloated company database.

Last updated · June 2026

Datahyena is a growth-signals API. We turn public business events, funding rounds, acquisitions, and executive moves, into clean, structured records you can query over REST or stream over webhooks.

That’s the whole product. No dashboard you have to live in, no CSV exports to wrangle, no sales call to get started.

Why we built it

Every go-to-market and investment team needs the same handful of signals: who just raised, who just got acquired, who just changed seats. The data exists, scattered across thousands of public sources, but turning it into something you can actually build on is a slog.

You can buy a giant company database, pay enterprise pricing, and still wrestle stale records and a clunky export. Or you can build the pipeline yourself and discover it’s a treadmill: sources change constantly, deduplication and entity resolution are genuinely hard, and it’s months before the first clean signal.

We thought there should be a third option: a focused API that does the unglamorous work, freshness, deduplication, entity resolution, and hands you a clean, typed record. So we built it.

What we believe

Focused beats exhaustive. We are not trying to be a Crunchbase clone. We cover the events that actually trigger action, and we cover them well, fresh, deduplicated, and resolved to canonical companies and investors.

An API, not a destination. The best data tool is one you never have to open. Datahyena is built to disappear into your product, your CRM, your model, your workflow.

Pay for what you pull. One credit per record. Start with 50 free, no card. No seat minimums, no annual lock-in to try it.

Honest about corroboration. Public data has gaps. Rather than hand you a black-box score, we surface the sources that reported each event, so you can see exactly where it came from.

Who’s behind it

Datahyena is built by Akash, an engineer who got tired of rebuilding the same signal pipeline. It started as the data layer behind a real product and grew into something worth offering on its own.

It’s early, and it’s built in the open with the people using it. If you have a signal you wish existed, or a rough edge that’s slowing you down, we want to hear it.
